A 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Moray.
The incident occurred in the village of Portknockie on Wednesday and a 45-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin with “serious injuries”, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with a serious assault in the Portknockie area on Wednesday.
“He is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Friday.”
Detective Inspector Alan Armit said: “I would once again like to reassure the public that this incident was contained and completely isolated.
“There will be a notable police presence in the area for the time being. The local community are thanked for their patience so far.”
