I went on a mission, using the 2022 Perth gift guide, to find unique present ideas.

If you’re anything like me, you know how hard it can be to find unique Christmas gifts. Never fear, people of Perth, I’m here to help.

You may be inclined to do your Christmas shopping online, but this year you want to do things a little differently. I am here to help you find some unique gifts, all from local shops in Perth.

My name is Hannah Ballantyne and I am stuck for Christmas shopping. Every year I seem to end up in this predicament; I am the worst person at finding unique gift options.

I will also be the first to admit that I typically shop online, which is a habit I am trying to break. This year I’ve challenged myself to find five unique presents that I could only purchase in local shops in Perth city centre. I really want to help my local High Street, so this felt like the best way to do that.

Perth and Kinross Council recently released a 2022 Christmas gift guide and I have drawn inspiration from that to help me pick which shops to visit. Read on to find out how I get on with my journey…

Where can I find unique gift ideas in Perth?

1. Provender Brown

Provender Brown is a little delicatessen located on George Street. Here, you can buy a wide variety of unique foods and gifts.

The store is also a cheesemonger that has an array of cheeses from all over the country. There is so much to choose from.

Their Christmas offering this year is truly something special. There are larger hampers but there are also little bags filled with goodies such as prosecco and biscuits.

What a brilliant gift idea for the food-lovers you know.

2. Boo Vake

Boo Vake is a quirky little gift shop that is just off the High Street, near to George Street. It’s a little off the beaten track so many people may walk right past it without even realising it’s there.

However, it’s a treasure trove for fun, unique gifts. There are a lot of things in this shop that have been handmade in Perthshire, which makes it even more special.

These candles would make the perfect dinner table decoration at Christmas lunch.

3. Terra Botanica

This gorgeously unique little flower and plant shop is relatively new to the Perth retail scene, but it contains a treasure trove of amazing gifts for the green-fingered people in your life.

There is a wide array of plants and gifts to choose from. Why not treat your loved one to a new peace lily? Or even a new Christmas wreath?

They even stock homemade candles and soaps too.

4. Evalucia Boutique

Evalucia is a Perth staple and is a must visit for any fashionistas in the Fair City. The store is owned by Perth Chamber of Commerce leader, Lori McGaffney, and stocks a wide range of well-known brands such as French Connection.

What I am here to look for is slippers. We all know someone who loves to pop a pair of comfy slippers on for relaxing.

The slippers are a must for those who love staying cosy whilst at home. They are adorable and would make the perfect Christmas gift. There’s a unique selection of designs to choose from.

5. Casella and Polegato

This adorable little bakery on George Street is filled with wonderful items. This is perfect for any food-lover. Specifically, baked-goods lovers, like me.

These perfect panettone breads would be excellent in a homemade bread and butter pudding.

The panettone bread can be purchased in Casella & Polegato’s George Street store or pre-ordered online.

While here you should also check out the selection of handmade sourdough bread. It is to die for.

I even ordered one of the panettone breads for my family to enjoy this festive season.

Did I find unique gift options in Perth?

In conclusion, I loved getting to know my local city centre a little better. I have lived here for a very long time and I am usually an online shopper, but this has changed my perspective.

Following this experience, I will make a more conscious effort to shop locally when looking for unique gifts. There are so many unique gift ideas in the Fair City.

I will definitely be making more of an effort to shop locally.

What’s even better than that is, I managed to find some unique Christmas present inspiration on this journey. Perth city centre has saved my shopping list.

The Perth City 2022 gift guide really helped me on my travels. This is available to pick up in most city centre stores.

Sometimes, the perfect gifts are a little closer to home than you may have anticipated.
