Forecasters have urged locals to prepare for flooding across Grampian, Tayside and Fife as a huge downpour batters the east of the country.
A yellow warning of heavy rain has been issued by the Met Office from 2pm until noon tomorrow.
A second alert of strong wind is in place for Tayside and Fife, with gusts of up to 60mph possible in coastal areas.
The Met Office added the “persistent rain” could lead to flooding of “homes and businesses”.
A statement from the forecaster said: “Persistent and occasionally heavy rain over parts of Scotland will continue into Wednesday.
“Localised flooding is likely along with disruption to some transport routes and difficult driving conditions.
“There is also a low likelihood of greater impacts across the northern half of the warning area where some flooding of homes and businesses is possible.”
The Met Office added: “A large area of rain lingering over Scotland until Wednesday will be heavy at times, especially over north-facing high ground where heavy rain is likely to be more persistent.
“This has the potential to widely generate 25 to 50 mm rain in 24 hours over northern and northeastern Scotland, and 50 to 75 mm rain over some areas of high ground here where locally close to 100 mm may fall.
“Southeastern Scotland is expected to see slightly lower totals overall but with the risk of some heavy bursts.”
