A sheriff has branded messages sent to an Angus woman “utterly disgusting and vile”.
Russell King appeared before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar where he pled guilty to a charge brought under the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm Act 2016.
King, of McCormack Place, Falkirk admitted that between July 26 and August 12 at an address in Thrums Gardens, Kirriemuir he sent messages of an offensive, indecent or menacing character to the woman by Facebook and email.
The court heard the victim and the 31-year-old accused had been in a relationship for eight years.
Copies of the messages were presented to the sheriff but the content was not disclosed in court due to their extremely sensitive nature. Sheriff Murray said the material was “extraordinarily offensive”.
He told King: “I accept you have no criminal record but these were utterly disgusting and vile.”
Sentence was deferred until November 28 for a criminal justice background report to be prepared.
