A teenage Angus footballer who left a rival requiring stitches after an on-the-park flare up has been ordered to pay his victim £200.
The 17-year-old was also ordered to pay £75 to a Forfar clubber he hit in a separate incident outside a town disco little over a month later.
Sentence had previously been deferred on the Kirriemuir youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after a sheriff said a background report did not “paint him in a good light”.
The youth, who was 16 at the time of the offences, admitted assaulting another boy of the same age at Riverview pitches, Monifieth on December 2 last year by punching him on the head to his injury.
He also pled guilty to hitting a male in an incident in Castle Street, Forfar on January 20 this year by punching him to his injury.
Forfar Sheriff Court was told the footie park flare-up happened late in the game between the two youth sides.
A player on the opposing side got injured and, as the referee attended to him, other players got involved in a disagreement over a free-kick.

Two brothers, who knew the accused only as a football player, were part of the argument and the accused punched one of them
Depute fiscal Laura McGillvery said: “The complainer was punched to the right side of his lip and began bleeding heavily.”
The boy was taken to Ninewells Hiospital accident and emergency unit where he received several internal stitches to the wound.
The Forfar incident just over a month later happened outside the town’s Royal nightclub where the accused and his victim initially spoke to each other but an argument broke out, leading to a wrestle between them.
“The complainer pushed the accused away, resulting in the accused punching him,” added the fiscal.
The man suffered a cut to his head but declined medical treatment, and the incident was captured on CCTV, the court heard.
Sheriff Derek Reekie imposed compensation orders for each of the victims and placed the teenager on supervision for the duration of a nine-month community payback order.
