A female addict who kicked off at police during a drugs warrant search of her home has been put on a six-month electronic tag.
Fern Fairweather tried to punch an officer and hit him on the nose with her mobile phone as she lashed out during the morning raid.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard the 29-year-old and her boyfriend were in bed when the intelligence-led May operation was launched.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said the warrant was executed around 9.45am.
“They were traced sleeping in the bedroom, she was told she was under arrest and police were involved in an attempt to restrain the accused but she continued to lash out.
“Eventually she was put in handcuffs,” said the fiscal.
A wrap containing £20 worth of cocaine was found in the flat.
Fairweather, of Emislaw Drive, Arbroath, pled guilty to police assault, resisting arrest and possessing the Class A drug on May 31.
Defence solicitor Billy Rennie said: “In fairness to her, there have been many arrests over the year and the last resisting arrest conviction was 2010 – it is not her normal behaviour.”
The accused will be confined to her home from 7pm until 7am daily under the restriction of liberty order.
