An Angus man has appeared in court on a serious sexual assault charge.
Stephen George Willocks, from Arbroath, made no plea during a private hearing at Forfar Sheriff Court.
The 56-year-old has been charged under Section 2&3 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act in connection with an alleged offence of serious sexual assault.
It is understood the allegation relates to an incident involving a young woman in Arbroath earlier this month.
Willocks made no plea and was committed for further examination.
He was released on bail.
The Crown Office has said a date for a further court appearance has yet to be confirmed.
