A police time-waster who claimed he had been attacked by three assailants has been warned he could go to jail.
Kevin McKinlay, 37, of Strathmore Avenue, Forfar, appeared from custody at the town’s sheriff court and pled guilty to making a false report to police on October 15 2018 that he had been repeatedly punched and kicked by three unknown persons.
The court heard investigating officers checked supermarket CCTV in relation to the report and their suspicions were raised that McKinlay had made the story up.
Sheriff Derek Reekie deferred sentence until February 20 for a background report.
“This is a serious matter and I make no promises,” he said.
Forfar man could be jailed for making up that he had been attacked by three people
