A second Carnoustie hub for the children of key workers is to be opened in response to local demand.
Angus Council has announced Burnside Primary School will become operational from Tuesday due to what has been described as “extremely high” demand in the local area. Carlogie primary is already being used for the role.
There have been ten hubs open across the district with uptake of places reported to be increasing steadily in other parts of Angus.
A council spokesperson said: “Hub management teams are responsible for the allocation of places.
“Any query should be made direct to the hub. If you did not make an application before our online questionnaire closed then your name will not be on the list held at the hub.
“Please let the hub staff know when you call that this is a ‘new application’.
The authority has also reiterated the important advice surrounding dropping off and picking up children from the hubs.
“Please remember the importance of social distancing when approaching and entering the hub.
“Please remember to give your child a packed lunch and snack (unless you are entitled to a free school meal) and to provide emergency contact, health details etc to hub staff the first time you drop your child off.”
The authority has also urged key workers to contact hubs to cancel any days which ate not required for their children, to free up spaces for others.
The Angus hubs are operating at Ladyloan, Hayshead and Inverbrothock in Arbroath; Carlogie and Burnside, Carnoustie; Grange primary, Monifieth; Lochside in Montrose; Maisondieu, Brechin; Langlands, Forfar; Northmuir, Kirriemuir and at Liff primary.
The situation represents a turnaround from last week when Angus Council’s children and learning convener expressed disappointment over the lack of uptake of available places.
