A cyclist has died after an accident in Auchmithie.
It is understood a local woman found the man before 7.30am on Friday morning and alerted the emergency services.
The man was found outside Auchmithie School House and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The road remains closed as investigators work at the accident site.
It is the only access road to the village, meaning residents are unable to travel in and out in a vehicle.
Sergeant William Strachan, Dundee Road Policing Unit, said: “Officers were called to assist ambulance around 7.30am on Friday, 24 April, after a male cyclist was found with serious injuries outside Auchmithie School House in the Angus area.
“The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and the road remains closed to allow for an investigation to take place.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Auchmithie is a scenic former fishing village, near Arbroath.
