Residents in a Kirriemuir care home have refused to let lockdown stop them communicating with their community and are laying down weekly challenges via social media.
To the sounds of Queen’s 1978 hit Don’t Stop Me Now, Storyville House, Beechwood Place, shared a video on Facebook showing residents holding messages with challenges for the town.
They have asked people to paint a stone and swap it with one residents have left at the end of the care home’s driveway.
People who collected a stone will find initials on the back, indicating the Storyville resident who designed it.
The video ends with an invitation to meet the artist when lockdown lifts.
Sophia Wells, Storyville House activities coordinator, said: “It’s been great for them to see people swapping the stone.
“The whole process has a beginning, a middle and an end. The beginning is the painting of the stone, the middle seeing people swap them and the end being the meeting that will happen after lockdown.
“Although we hope that end is the beginning of a new friendship. The residents are so grateful to see how the local community has got involved.”
The stone painting video is the first of what will become weekly challenges. On May 7 residents will ask people to become pen pals.
Sophia said: “Some people said they would love to get involved but are not close enough to leave a stone, so this way anyone can get involved no matter how far away they are.”
Other activities to keep the residents entertained since visitors have not been allowed include a “rave” while celebrating World Earth Day last month.
Ms Wells said: “We’ve been doing other things aside from the weekly challenges, such as on World Earth Day we dimmed the lights as much as we could, got out some glow sticks and had a bit of a dance.”
