Glen Doll ranger centre and Montrose basin car parks will remain closed in Angus despite the easing of lockdown restrictions announced by Scotland’s First Minister.

Angus Alive said its country parks at Monikie, Crombie and Forfar Loch will welcome visitors again from Friday morning – but with a number of controls still in place.

Car parking charges at the country parks will be suspended, but toilets, playgrounds and hides will stay closed.

Sailing or outdoor swimming remain banned and the leisure body will not be delivering any outdoor activities at this stage.

The Angus Alive ranger service will also not be operating so there will be no first aid service or rescue cover available.

Angus Alive senior manager Colin Knight said: “It’s essential the public support us by following the current government guidance as well as adhering to our own guidance on using our spaces.

“We recognise that recreation outside is very important for both our physical and mental health, and although the recent lifting of some lockdown rules are very much welcomed, it’s only a small step and our normal offering is sadly still much reduced.”

Angus Alive said it is working with Cairngorms National Park Authority, Forestry Land Scotland and the Scottish Wildlife Trust in relation to the re-opening of car parks at Glen Doll ranger centre and Montrose Basin.
