Staff on Tayside’s intensive care frontline in the fight against Covid-19 have gone the extra mile to support effort to help the vulnerable and elderly.
Throught their backing for NHS Tayside’s Pays it Forward campaign, Ninewells ICU staff nurses Kirstie Skinner and Kevin Clark have been encouraging their colleagues to donate non-perishable food and toiletries to help people in need.
Kirstie, who started collecting items before the pandemic, has delivered multiple boxes to Dundee Food Bank. Kevin focused his sights on putting together treat bags for care home staff, with support from the Broughty Ferry Baptist Church.
Kirstie said: “I thought it would be a nice thing for us to do as a department. It has made me really proud to see my colleagues getting behind this and donating.”
Kevin said, “We wanted to thank care home staff for their work during this difficult time.
“Our colleagues in intensive care were very generous in paying it forward and we were able to put together 15 large ‘thank you’ boxes to 12 care homes in Dundee.”
