Community cinemas across Courier country have landed national lottery funding for kit upgrades to enhance the big screen experience.
Through Screen Scotland’s Cinema Equipment Fund, premises in Arbroath, St Andrews, Dundee, Crieff and Forgandenny will benefit to the tune of more than £120,000.
Chalmers Arbroath Cinema will receive £52,350, Dundee Contemporary Arts £21,099 and the New Picture House in St Andrews £25,000 for projector upgrades.
Strathearn Art Space in Crieff has been awarded £24,570 and Forgandenny Village Hall £925 for an audio loop.
Andrew Henderson of Chalmers Arbroath said: “The funding allows us to purchase a new energy-efficient 4k laser projector which we will install in our spacious screen one cinema.
“The town of Arbroath and the surrounding rural communities will then be able to benefit from getting a quality cinema experience which is often associated with the big venues in larger towns.”
The latest round of funding for 24 projects Scotland-wide totalled £491,285.
