Police have launched an investigation after a man died in an incident in an Angus town.
Officers were called to Arbroath’s Spitalfield Place at about 6pm on Wednesday night.
Several surrounding streets have been closed off following reports of a stabbing.
Police are said to be guarding Newbiggings Drive at both ends with officers blocking off either side of an underpass.
A large cordon is in place around a block of flats on the street.
There is also said to be a heavy police presence throughout the town as a whole.
A police spokeswoman told the Evening Telegraph said: “Police are investigating following the death of a man in Spitalfield Place, Arbroath.
“Emergency services were called around 6pm on Wednesday, August 26 2020.
“Inquiries are at a very early stage and anyone who was in the area at the time who has information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 2702 of Wednesday, August 26 2020.”
