A short horror film made in Arbroath will premiere at this year’s Dundead Horror Film Festival at DCA in Dundee.
The Clearing will play in advance of the highly anticipated preview of Green Room to open the festival.
It is part of a new addition to the line-up that will see a series of short films offered ahead of the main programme of previews, new releases and cult classics, from next Thursday to Sunday May 1.
The Clearing is the second short film from Arbroath-based Ironstar Films, a team of four friends who are passionate about film and are completely self-taught.
Shot on location in Ethie Woods, on the outskirts of Arbroath, the visual story follows a man as he wakes up in a strange and otherworldly place.
Disorientated and unsure, he soon realises he is not alone and must make a choice based on faith alone in order to unravel the mystery that surrounds The Clearing.
Graeme Carr of Ironstar Films said: “It’s amazing to be given the chance to showcase our work at DCA.
“We can’t wait to see The Clearing up on the big screen and in front of a local audience.
“For a public screening of our first short, we were too nervous to sit with everyone else, so we missed seeing people’s reactions.
“We hope to be right in the middle for this one.”
DCA head of cinema Alice Black said: “With our cinema programme we are always committed to showcasing the best new film releases but it’s equally wonderful when local talent can also be in included in our programme.
“There is a real sense of momentum building around film production in the Tayside region and DCA wants to do everything we can to foster it.
“The Clearing came to our attention because of the 4th Wall, a new film-makers’ gathering that recently launched at DCA.”
Dundead includes a late-night strand of the best from the late Wes Craven’s catalogue as well as a selection of cult fantasy PG classics.
