Arbroath charity stalwart Doug Ford has become the latest recipient of a Local Hero Award.
The organisers of the forthcoming Festival of Heroes event, which will feature the Red Arrows, launched the campaign to honour local heroes.
Mr Ford, a founder member of Arbroath Amateur Boxing Club and former citizen of the year, had 25 bouts as a youth boxer, winning a youth title and only losing four times.
He also played amateur and junior football and played in goal for the Army at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
Mr Ford founded the boxing club with his brother Davie over 50 years ago and has trained thousands of local youngsters.
A well-respected figure in the town, Mr Ford – who also sings with Arbroath Rat Pack – has organised countless boxing and musical events for charity which have raised around £170,000.
Mr Ford said: “I’d like to thank everyone over the years who has helped with charity shows, sporting clubs and those who nominated me for a Local Hero award.
“Without an audience there is no show, so thank you to the people of Arbroath who have supported me along the way.”
Mr Ford was presented with his award by Jamie Buchan and Colin Galloway at Roxburghe House where he is battling cancer.
