A new local charity helping people with a learning disability in Angus has received a lottery funding boost.
The Awards for All cash injection will allow the Arbroath-based Learning Tree Partnership to help people in the community.
The charity was set up to plug a supported learning gap by opening up opportunities to allow people with a learning disability to feel more confident in looking for employment, volunteering and further education.
Trustee Alison Adams said: “This funding will allow us to have an open day and run taster sessions to let people see what we will do.
“Information from these sessions will help us get a business plan in place and allow us to make sure we deliver something that people want to be part of.”
Mrs Adams said the open day will be held on Wednesday in OB’s, West Port, Arbroath, between 1pm and 7pm.
She said future plans involve a retail outlet to give training and practical experience in customer service.
People can start to donate used books and CDs to the Citizens Advice Bureau in Millgate until Wednesday.
