A cocaine-fuelled knifeman has been banned from an Angus playpark after he was found wandering around bare-chested brandishing a blade.
Jordan Rae’s shouting and swearing caught the attention of residents near Forfar’s Lordburn Park just before midnight on September 4.
They were shocked to see the Dundee 24-year-old wandering around with an eight-inch kitchen knife and taking off his hoodie.
Witnesses called police and kept an eye on Rae, who was found by officers on nearby Arbroath Road.
By then he was not in possession of the knife, but it was found soon after in the park.
Rae, of Morgan Street, Dundee has now been told to clean up his act by a sheriff after he admitted breaching the peace in the park and possessing a knife.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard he had no recollection of the incident.
Defence solicitor Nick Whelan said the offence was committed through a combination of cocaine and alcohol.
“There is a very full background report and he is genuinely remorseful,” said the agent.
He said Rae was taking steps to address his cocaine and drink issues.
Sheriff Derek Reekie told the accused: “This is alarming behaviour.
“It seems to me a very dangerous combination, evidenced by the fact you’re behaving in an extremely bizarre fashion in a playpark. Fortunately this was at midnight, but it sounds like it could have been at any time of the day.
“You have had some private assistance, but I am telling you here and now you had better do something about this,” added the sheriff.
“You need to take this seriously.”
He said he was banning Rae from the park and deferring sentence for four months to allow him to engage with the appropriate agencies.
“These offences will not just be swept under the carpet and how they are ultimately dealt with depends very much on what happens in that time,” added the sheriff.
