A Tayside police officer accused of running a red light in her police car and smashing into another vehicle will stand trial next week.
PC Jennifer Jones faces a single charge of dangerous driving on the A92 in Arbroath while on duty in control of a marked police car.
She did not appear during an intermediate diet at Forfar Sheriff Court today, and local defence agent Brian Bell confirmed a not guilty plea to the charge on summary complaint.
She is accused of causing the crash in Burnside Drive at its junction with Brothock Bridge on November 24 2014.
She is alleged to have driven at excessive speed and failed to comply with a signal to stop lawfully provided by a red traffic light.
Prosecutors say that caused her to collide with another car being driven by a woman.
Both vehicles were damaged and PC Jones was injured along with a female passenger in the other car.
PC Jones, 28, whose address was given as care of the Police Service of Scotland, had previously pled not guilty through a solicitor and was excused attendance today.
The trial is due to begin on May 17.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland’s Tayside Division said: “It would be inappropriate to disclose details regarding an individual’s employment.”
