A self-isolating paedophile hunter has had sentencing over an Angus incident more than two years ago delayed.

In March, teenager Jay Buchan was told to stay out of trouble by a sheriff after members of the Wolf Pack UK group were dealt with for a breach of the peace in Forfar in August 2018 after they targeted a local house.

Buchan, 19, of Glasgow, was one of a six people originally charged in the wake of the incident, which triggered a major police operation over several hours.

The police presence at the scene of the incident at Old Halkerton Road, Forfar in August 2018.

Four accused later pled guilty to behaving in an offensive manner, presenting banners and, with hoods over their heads and faces masked, shouting, swearing and making offensive remarks while broadcasting live on social media.

Buchan’s case had been continued for Sheriff Gregor Murray to monitor the teenager’s progress on a community payback order imposed over similar offences elsewhere, and he was banned from participating in vigilante activities.

The court was told Buchan had been advised to self-isolate as a result of coronavirus concerns relating to a close relative.

Buchan, who failed to attend court on a previous occasion because he said he suffered from travel sickness, had sentence deferred until December 17 for the preparation of a background report.

Sheriff Murray also issued a warrant for the remaining gang member yet to be sentenced, Marcin Kuciak, of Edinburgh after the 39-year-old failed to appear in court.

Buchan’s father, Gordon, was the group’s ringleader and received 200 hours unpaid work for his part in the Angus offence.

The 40-year-old was also banned from taking part in any vigilante activities for two years.

The other Wolf Pack member, Karen Ferry, 48, of Dalkeith received 120 hours unpaid work under a community payback order.
