A huge crowd turned out to see Britain’s finest on the land, sea and air in Angus today.
The Arbroath Festival of Heroes was anticipated to draw as many as 10,000 people to the free event held at Victoria Park.
While the event was not ticketed, early indications are that these high expectations have been met.
Organisers showcased the Armed Forces, emergency services, and the best in local cuisine, with Masterchef contestant Jamie Scott taking on a top-level Army chef for bragging rights.
One of the main draws was a spectacular 30-minute display by the Red Arrows, which drew spectators from all over Tayside and Fife.

The sun stayed out for the duration of the event between 11am and 5.30pm, although the North Sea provided occasional reminders to revellers to bring additional layers of clothing.
