Young football fans with a taste for wordplay have until this weekend to submit names for an Angus club’s newest club mascot.
Last month it was revealed that Forfar Athletic are introducing a life-sized Forfar Bridie to take the bite out of relegation to League Two.
And fans aged 12 years old and under are invited to think of a “brilliant, beautiful, barmy, bedazzling bridie name” before the competition closes on Saturday afternoon.
The winner will join the bridie mascot at a first team match in the new season and will be given a home replica kit as a memento of the occasion.
The club will officially unveil the new mascot on June 24 and have also launched an appeal for someone to wear the unique outfit on match days.
A club spokesman said: “All four McLaren’s and Saddler’s shops in Forfar have bridie entry boxes so why not pick up a little treat while you are posting your entry.”
Full terms and conditions are on the entry slips, and “far-flung Loons” can email fafcretail@gmail.com by 5pm on Wednesday to get help in entering.
