A vessel which got into difficultly near Stonehaven had to be escorted back to shore. The alarm was raised at 7pm on Monday night. The motor sailer Miss Molly suffered engine failure and the Stonehaven Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked to assist. Stonehaven lifeboat was subsequently launched and went out to meet the boat. The vessel was placed under tow and was taken back into Stonehaven Harbour. After months of volunteers’ training and fundraising, Stonehaven became a fully operational RNLI lifeboat station in August 2014. It opened on a trial period for three years.
