Heavy overnight rain has forced the organisers of Drumtochty Highland Games to pull the plug on today’s event.
The 40th anniversary event had been due to take place on Saturday afternoon in its stunning regular setting of Drumtochty Glen, but conditions led the games committee to take the disappointing decision to cancel on safety grounds.
The games website stated: “Due to the car parking and safety of competitors following the torrential overnight rain, the decision has been taken to cancel the Drumtochty Games this year.
“Dancing has also been cancelled.
“Sorry for any inconvenience that may have been caused.”
The decision is a blow to competitors and spectators looking forward to an event which claims the title of the area’s friendliest games, with the traditional range of competitions and the Finella hill race.
