A raging driver who tore between Dundee and Aberdeen in a 115mph huff after being “cut up” by another motorist has avoided a ban.
Police in an unmarked patrol vehicle spotted Marc Sievwright as he passed them on the A92 on March 19.
He shot past them at speed in his powerful BMW X5, prompting them to follow.
Unknown to the 43-year-old, they tailed him for around a mile-and-a-half during which he clocked an average speed of 115mph in 70, 60 and 50mph zones between Ethiebeaton and Carlungie.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Sievwright had been annoyed after being cut up by another driver on a roundabout on the A92.
Solicitor Gary McIlravey said: “He reacted by speeding off, which he knows he shouldn’t have done. There is no excuse.
“By the time he was pulled over by the police he had calmed down and was already down to the correct speed for the road.
“He explained to the officers what had happened.”
Sievwright, of the Walled Garden, Carlogie, Carnoustie, admitted driving a car at 115mph on the A92 Dundee to Arbroath road.
He was fined £400 and had his driving licence endorsed with six penalty points.
