Several police vehicles and armed officers reported to an area near the High Street in Brechin in relation to an incident on Saturday night.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance in the Slater Way area of Brechin at around 9pm on Saturday.
Officers were supported by a firearms unit.
At least four police vehicles were seen on the High Street late on Saturday. Locals reported that the vehicles were still there hours later.

Local worker Scotty Lawson spotted the police in the area late on Saturday.
He said: “It was around 9pm, I went out for a smoke and multiple police vehicles were in Cross Keys car park, around Cross Keys close.
“The police weren’t looking for anyone as they weren’t searching or asking questions, it was like they were waiting.
“Sure enough, four police cars pull up later at around 11:15-11:30pm on the High Street and out came these guys dressed in black.
“They all moved into the Cross Keys close area. The men in black left after around 20 minutes.
“They left a police vehicle and van behind in Cross Keys car park.”
Police confirmed that they are following a positive line of enquiry.
‘Report of a disturbance’
The full details of the disturbance are currently unknown, but there were no reported injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 9pm on Saturday, October 16, to a report of a disturbance in the Slater Way area of Brechin.
“Officers attended and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“No one was injured and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
