Angus sisters have shown their caring side with back-to-school haircuts for good causes.
For the second time in as many years, Forfar five-year-old Emma McGregor had her long locks cut for charity – and to help a special friend hundreds of miles away – with older sister Sophie, 8, joining her in the salon this time round.
The sisters’ hair will go to the Little Princess Trust charity which provides wigs for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Strathmore primary pupils Emma and Sophie’s gesture will also raise money for Dundee Brae Riding for the Disabled facility, and keep strong a pregnancy friendship forged by their mum, Laura, with the mother of Logan Chadbone from Burnham on Sea.
The mums-to-be met online in 2010, before Logan’s premature birth led to severe difficulties and he requires continuous care for complex needs including cerebral palsy.
Emma’s first haircut raised money for a hospice where Logan enjoys respite breaks and this time the girls’ money will go towards installing special equipment at home for his day to day needs.
Laura said: “Both of the girls’ hair was getting quite long and I said that they should get it cut before going back to school so it was Emma who suggested that they do it for Logan again.
“We’ve kept in touch and I speak to Logan’s mum on a weekly basis at least,” added Laura.
“Sophie decided to do it as well and she is obsessed by horses so she wanted to do it for a horsey related charity.”
The girls’ haircut took place at Re-invention in Forfar’s West High Street.
