This is the moment a firefighter plucked an unlucky gull from a rooftop in Angus.
Unflappable pensioner Ken Jensen captured the rescue on camera after the screeching bird became trapped between chimney pots.
The scene unfolded in Montrose around 11am on Thursday morning.
Ken, 68, said the fire crew took around 20 minutes to release the stricken gull.
“I just heard this noise outside and I initially thought it was the bin men coming to empty the bins.
“The fireman came and got up there on the roof. It all happened just across the road from me.”
The firefighter who removed the gull from the Christie’s Lane address carried it down a ladder to safety.
Mr Jensen added: “He put it into one of those boxes like a pet carrier and that was it. I don’t know what happened to it after that.”
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they were requested to attend by the SSPCA shortly before 11am.
The seagull was freed and was placed into the care of the SSPCA. It is understood the gull is being nursed back to health.
The rescue comes ahead of our Don’t Be Gullible series which starts in this Saturday’s edition of The Courier.
There’s still time to enter our #courierseagullselfie competition with a £100 prize for the best seagull pic revealed in print on Saturday.
