Arbroath’s 10th anniversary Relay for Life got under way on Saturday morning.
Cancer survivors walked the first lap, cheered and supported by members of the community.
The event at Arbroath Cricket Club will conclude at 11am on Sunday when the final total will be revealed.
Relay chair Ian Angus paid tribute to everyone involved in the weekend event.

Mr Angus said: “Researchers never tire of letting us know how much they appreciate and value the army of fundraisers that underpins their work.
“The money raised right here in Angus is helping to power major scientific advances that are driving big changes in earlier diagnosis, kinder treatments and better survival rates for cancer patients.
“Cancer Research UK is the only charity that funds research into every type of cancer and they are also focusing their efforts on the harder to treat cancers.
“The money we raise helps to fund scientists in Dundee, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow and their groundbreaking research into all forms of cancer.
“The icing on the cake is that many of the discoveries made by Cancer Research UK scientists are also of benefit to many other scientists researching other diseases and conditions.”
