A former Angus woman is celebrating winning a top award for her restaurant.
Pamela Brunton’s restaurant Inver, which is on the eastern shore of Loch Fyne in Argyll, won the AA Best Scottish Restaurant 2016 at the AA Awards in London on Monday.
Pamela — who was born in Dundee before moving to Carnoustie, where she attended Carlogie Primary School and Carnoustie High School — runs the business with partner Rob Latimer.
The restaurant, which is only in its second year of operation, has already been mentioned in the Good Food Guide for the UK.
Their use of locally sourced produce and foraged seaweed, mushrooms and wild garlic to name a few, struck a chord with the AA judges this year who hailed the restaurant’s creativity, service and ambience.
Pamela and Rob have travelled Europe and have worked in leading restaurants such as Noma in Denmark and Faviken in Finland gaining experience.
Time spent running a bistro restaurant called Superette in Ghent as part of the Indewulf empire also sharpened the organisational skills needed to run a compact, high quality restaurant, bakery and bar.
