A 32-year-old man has died in an industrial accident in Brechin.
The man, who is yet to be identified, died on Monday afternoon at a premises on East Mill Road.
Emergency services were at the industrial unit, close to the Matrix factory, for most of the afternoon.
Police have said that he was pronounced dead at the scene, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
The man’s family have been informed of his death.
The Health and Safety Executive is also aware of the incident.
‘Inquiries ongoing’
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Monday March 14 police were called to an industrial premises on East Mill Road, Brechin, following reports that a 32-year-old man had been injured within.
“Emergency services attended, however, the man died at the scene.
“His family is aware. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
Heavy police presence
Witnesses saw at least 15 police vehicles at the industrial site, close to the Matrix factory, on Monday afternoon.
Ambulances and fire crews also attended.
One person who lives nearby said yesterday: “I was walking out of the Matrix car park and then all of these police turned up, as well as an ambulance and an incident response unit and two fire engines.
“There were at least 15 police vehicles. It looks like they brought every available vehicle in.
“The air ambulance left at around 4.20pm.”
A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive said: “We have been made aware of the fatality and are currently working with Police Scotland and making enquiries into the circumstances of the incident.”
