Police warning after Angus crimewave

.
.

Angus householders have been urged to take security seriously after a spate of recent thefts.

Police Scotland have encouraged folk to give special attention to garages, outbuildings and sheds following incidents across the district.

Overnight between Thursday and Friday, a number of properties near Glamis were targeted and a quantity of power tools, including Dewalt, Black and Decker and AEG drills, a Dewalt angle grinder, car battery charger, diesel powered space heater, socket set, inspection lamp, 22″ television, blue/white ornamental plates, glass paperweights, a JCB jigsaw, car polisher and a Black and Decker jack hammer were taken.

Muir of Pert near Auchterhouse was also targeted and a large quantity of red diesel stolen.

Between 8pm on Saturday and 9am the following morning, a shed in Victoria Street, Arbroath was targeted and a Karcher pressure washer and Black and Decker power saw stolen.

Safer Communities Sergeant Debbie Donkin said: “It is important to remember that if you see anything suspicious at all, don’t keep this information to yourself.

“If a crime is occurring or about to take place contact the Police immediately on 999. If you have information use the non emergency number 101.

She  added: “Residents should also think about their older or vulnerable neighbours too at this time of the year and see if they require assistance to carry out security measures.  Help each other to remain safe and secure”.

“There are a number of Neighbourhood Watch schemes in the Angus area that you can join or if not why not start one yourself.

“For further information or crime prevention advice contact your local Community policing team or visit the website at www.neighbourhoodwatchscotland.co.uk

Sgt Donkin added: “If you have any information you think may be useful to the Police telephone 101 or in an emergency 999. You can provide anonymous information to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
