A truck, Segway scooters and tools have been stolen in an overnight raid at a popular outdoor activity centre in Auchterhouse.
The owners of Tank Driving Scotland, near Auchterhouse Country Sports, were alerted to a break-in to one of their storage buildings on Thursday morning.
A Mitsubishi L 200 was robbed from the site, and it is understood the vehicle may have been used in an illegal activity elsewhere.
Rod Sim, who owns the Angus company, said the theft would have a severe effect on his business.
He believes the total value of the items taken could be worth around £20,000, and is worried about how the robbery could affect upcoming corporate bookings booked at the centre in the coming weeks.
“We have a group over to the centre next week, and this theft will have a severe knock-on effect to the business,” he said.
“The Mitsubishi had been specially modified and was registered as an off-road vehicle, so I will need to check to see whether we are covered for insurance.
“It had been modified in such a way that meant it could have only been capable of doing 40mph tops on the road, so it would be pretty noticeable.
“We had heard the truck had been used in another ram-raid elsewhere.”
It is thought the break-in happened between 7pm on Wednesday night and 7am on Thursday morning.
The business’ custom converted army-green Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck was stolen, after thieves broke in through the building’s secure door.
Two Segway scooters, worth around £6,000 each, were also taken in the raid.
The batteries of both scooters had been removed along with their unique travel cards, of which they are useless without – according to Rod.
A number paint-ball guns had also been snatched, but were unloaded and without their gas-canisters, meaning the thieves would be unlikely to be able to sell them on.
An abundance of hand tools – including a motorised chop saw and a hand grinder – were lifted during the robbery.
A separate housebreaking in Forfar resulted in two high-end cars and money being stolen between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon.
Cash and other personal items were also stolen from the house, alongside a black Mercedes Benz, registration mark H20 CDS, and a black Audi A5, registration mark SR10 JUW.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland is making enquiries after a green Mitsubishi pick-up was was stolen following a break-in at Burnhead Farm, Auchterhouse, Angus overnight between Wednesday October 16 and Thursday October 17th.”
