An Arbroath man was placed on a community payback order for a year after he admitted assaulting a woman and then the two police officers who came to arrest him.
Darren Pratt, of Chalmers Street, admitted that on August 30 at his home address and at Central Taxis on Millagate, he behaved in a threatening manner likely to cause fear or alarm by acting in an aggressive manner towards his former partner. The 43-year-old then seized her by the body, pulled her by the body, pushed her against a wall, followed her and uttered abusive marks and threats of violence towards her.
On the same date at Chalmers Street, Pratt then assaulted the two police officers while they were in the execution of their duty by struggling with them and lashing out with his arms and legs.
Depute fiscal Kirsten Letford said an argument developed between the pair and that as the woman stood up to leave Pratt began to shout and swear at her.
“He grabbed her by the body and pulled her,” she told Forfar Sheriff Court.
“There was a struggle between them. He pushed her against a wall but lost his grip and the woman ran from the block.
“The accused followed her along Millgate. She ran towards the taxi office and called the police. The accused followed her and continued to shout and swear.”
The police saw Pratt nearby when they were called to the taxi office.
“When he was informed he was under arrest, he tried to walk away,” the depute fiscal added.
“He then lashed out with his arms and legs and struggled with the police. He later complained about an injury to his ribs and was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where it was decided his injuries were minor.”
