Two people have been taken to hospital following a road smash in Angus.
One man and one woman had to be cut free from their respective vehicles after the incident on the A937 Montrose to Laurencekirk road at around 6.20pm.
The collision, which involved a black Ford Ka and a silver Vauxhall Corsa, happened around a mile north of the Marykirk junction.
The two injured people were taken by ambulance to Aberdeen, but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they removed the two casualties from the cars and stayed behind to provide lighting for police as investigations into what happened got under way.
