Police are appealing for the public’s assistance after an 88-year-old woman was robbed.
The incident happened about 11am on Saturday in Newhame Road, Montrose.
The person responsible grabbed the woman’s shopping bag, which caused her to fall to the ground and the bag and contents were stolen.
The victim was shaken as a result of the incident, but uninjured.
The person responsible was last seen running north in Newhame Street, into Westwood Walk and was then lost to view.
The person is described as wearing a blue jacket with a maroon or purple hooded top underneath, with the hood up.
Detectives are carrying out door to door enquiries in the area and also looking at police and private CCTV.
Enquiries so far have recovered the contents of the shopping bag, however not the bag.
Residents within the Newhame Road and Westwood Walk areas are being asked to assist police by searching their gardens and bins for a blue canvas shopping bag.
Anyone who saw the person responsible, or who has any information that could assist police enquiries or finds a blue canvas shopping bag should contact Police Scotland Police Scotland on 101, or speak to any police officer.
