Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch surprised staff and customers at a Stonehaven tea room when he popped in for lunch.
The Oscar-nominated actor visited the Waterfront Cafe Bar and posed for photographs with fans.
The celebrity’s visit to the area comes in the same week that Kylie Minogue was also also in Aberdeenshire – when she visited Dee Valley Confectioners in Ballater.
After Benedict’s visit, cafe staff said he was a “very polite and guy” who “met staff and customers”.
In a Facebook post that has racked up hundreds of likes and comments they wrote: “A-list actor Benedict Cumberbatch had a lovely lunch with us on Wednesday.”
The fourth season of Sherlock started on BBC1 on New Year’s Day.
Facebook commenter Ruth Munro said: “I see your Kylie and raise you with Benedict. The NE was jam packed with celebs.”
