Both Arbroath lifeboats were launched just before 3pm on Sunday after a request by the Coastguard to assist a vulnerable female at the town’s cliffs.
Two Coastguard rescue teams were also deployed after the alarm was raised.
Police were able to take protective custody of the woman and no action was required by the crews.
Arbroath was the first RNLI station to launch on service this year.
