A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital following a two vehicle crash on the A90 in Angus.
The man, who was the driver in one of the cars, had to be cut free from his vehicle by firefighters following the incident near the Edzell junction at around 4pm.
The road was closed southbound for around an hour, causing some lengthy tailbacks in the area, although one lane was reopened at around 5pm to alleviate the traffic problems during rush hour.
Police Scotland urged motorists to drive with care, expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.
Two fire engines, one from Montrose and one from Laurencekirk, were in attendance, and a spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the casualty was removed from his vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment and stablising gear.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that a man in his 70s was taken to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital, although the extent of his injuries were not divulged.
