The heartbroken sister of a young mum found dead in her Brechin home has paid tribute, calling her “smart, funny and lovely”.
Elaine Robertson, 36, died suddenly at home in River Street on Wednesday and police say they are not treating her death as suspicious.
Sister Kirstie Higgins, 25, says the family are still coming to terms with Elaine’s death, on her 36th birthday.
She said: “We are still waiting for answers.
“Hopefully we will receive the results of a post mortem soon because as yet we do not know why Elaine died.”
Elaine was found by Raymond Kessack, who she lived with. He gave her CPR until an ambulance arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
She leaves behind a seven-year-old daughter, Isla.
‘Isla will miss her mum so much’
Kirstie said: “I’m going to miss Elaine so much.
“I lost contact with my sister when I was young when I moved to Montrose from Aberdeenshire.
“When I was 16 I re-built a relationship with Elaine when she moved to Brechin in 2013 and that’s when she fell pregnant with her daughter Isla.
“Elaine and Isla had such a close bond with each other and Isla will miss her mum so much.
“I’m so happy I got to re-build a relationship with Elaine and I got to spend the last nine years being a part of her life.
“Elaine will be missed by the whole family. She was smart, funny and lovely person.”
Police say Elaine Robertson’s death was not suspicious
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to River Street, Brechin, at around 12.40pm on Wednesday following a report of concern for a person.
“A 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
