A police investigation has been launched after a 65-year-old man died in an accident in Muirhead.
Emergency crews raced to Dalgetty Court shortly after noon on Thursday, after a man was found injured.
It is understood the man was involved in an industrial accident at a property on the street.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbours described seeing three ambulance crews as part of the “huge emergency response” following the incident.
Police Scotland has launched an investigation and an area of the street and Quarry Road remains taped off.
Speaking to The Courier, locals described emergency services descending on the area.
‘Huge emergency response’ to Muirhead death
One woman said: “I saw someone running along Quarry Road telling an emergency services vehicle to come in via Dalgetty Court.
“We’d heard there had been an accident.
“There was a huge emergency response here at around 12.30pm.
“I saw a trauma team, the fire service arrived and a separate appliance arrived with a container of equipment.
“There were loads of sirens.”
One man said he was saddened to hear someone had died following the incident.
He said: “We had no idea what had happened but the emergency services have remained for a number of hours.
“There is tape sealing off access along Quarry Road and I can see police standing guard outside a property.
“I’m saddened to hear someone has passed away.”
Four fire appliances
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it mobilised four appliances to scene and further special resources.
A spokesperson said: “We were called to assist emergency service partners at 12.18pm on Thursday at an incident at Dalgetty Court.
“Operations control mobilised four appliances and special resources to the scene, where crews remain in attendance.”
‘Inquiries are ongoing’
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers received a report of a 65-year-old man having been found injured on Dalgetty Court in Muirhead around 12.25pm on Thursday.
“Emergency services attended, however, the man was pronounced at the scene.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed they were assisting Police Scotland with the investigation.
An HSE spokesman said: “HSE is aware of the incident and assisting the Police Scotland investigation.”
