A young woman has died and a baby been airlifted to hospital following a Mearns car crash.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the single vehicle crash on the A92 Inverbervie to Kineff road on Saturday morning.
The A92 between Kinneff and Inverbervie was closed by police shortly after the incident at 11am.
The 23-year-old female driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
A 13-month-old child also travelling in the car was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The baby is not thought to have been seriously injured.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that following a road traffic collision on the A92 this morning at around 11am that a 23-year-old female has sadly died.
“A 13-month-old baby whch was also in the vehicle was taken to ARI with minor injuries. The road remains closed and inquires are at an early stage.”
