A 64-year-old man has died after taking ill near the seafront at Carnoustie.
Emergency services were called to Links Parade after concerns were raised for the man near Carnoustie Leisure Centre on Tuesday morning.
Locals told of seeing four police units heading to the area.
One woman said officers were near the shoreline just before noon, while a helicopter was also spotted in the area – though it is unclear whether this was connected to the incident.
Grace Robson, who lives near the beach, told us: “I saw four cars on my way into work this morning.
“They were absolutely whizzing past.
“You never really see a single police car in Carnoustie so seeing four at once was a bit unusual.”
Man pronounced dead at scene
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 10.55am on Tuesday, officers were called to concerns for a person at Links Parade, Carnoustie.
“Emergency services attended and a 64-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
