A 28-year-old man has been arrested after armed police were called to a flat in Arbroath.
Officers were contacted over concerns for a man on Keptie Street shortly before 1pm on Sunday.
The road was blocked off while emergency services, including negotiators, paramedics and firefighters, attended the scene.
The man was arrested after leaving the flat at around 6.30pm.
Officers confirmed no one was injured during the incident.
Inspector Grant McGaughay said: “Around 12.40pm on Sunday, police were called to a report of concern for a man within a flat in Keptie Street, Arbroath.
“Officers and negotiators attended. Around 6.30pm, the 28-year-old came out of the flat and he has been arrested in connection with this incident.
“There was no threat to the wider public during this incident. No one was injured.
“A report will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal.”
Residents left in the dark during incident
Residents who live close to where the incident took place place told The Courier they had not been given any information.
One resident said: “I was here at 2pm and the police had everything closed off. It’s now approaching 7pm and they’re still here.”
Another said: “I live across the road from the building and haven’t been told of what is happening.
“You can go on social media and read some gossip but as far as I’m concerned I don’t know what’s going on.”
