Members of the public in Angus have been warned about the dangers of bogus workmen after men were reportedly impersonating employees from a local firm.
Housebuilder DJ Laing warned that workmen have been seen in a white van in Monifieth, apparently claiming to represent the firm and offering to surface driveways.
The Carnoustie-based firm posted the warning on social media that they would not solicit work in this way.
“We have been alerted by members of the public that bogus workmen in a white Ford Transit van have been visiting homes in the Monifieth area claiming to be from D J LAING and offering to carry out work to residents’ driveways.
“Please note that D J LAING do not solicit business in this way and would never visit homes without a request from the householder.
“All our employees have branded workwear and vehicles showing our company logo.
“We urge everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Police Scotland on 101 or Angus Council’s Trading Standards on 01241 435600.”
