The family of a much-loved Arbroath dad have paid tribute to him following his sudden death.

Sergejs Prudskojs is believed to have taken his own life in the Angus town on Thursday.

Police were called to the Priory Crescent area shortly after 11am following the 50-year-old’s death.

Sergejs shared son Michael, aged three, with his partner Jelena.

The couple had been together for 12 years.

Sergejs’ step-daughter Anatasia, who worked alongside Sergej at Esk Glazing, told The Courier the family have been left heartbroken following his death.

She said: “It’s still such a shock.

“We’ve been here for around two or three years together.

“He worked through the back, preparing deliveries and things.”

‘It’s important to reach out’

Anastasia has urged anyone experiencing mental health difficulties to reach out for help, sharing a message of hope.

She added: “It is important to reach out.

“I’d want to get the message across that there is always a way out.”

Over £1,000 has now been raised in a fundraiser organised by Anastasia to help the family pay for Sergejs’ funeral.

She added: “It is nice to see the donations to give him a proper send off and how well thought of he was.

“He was loved by so many.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed Sergejs’ death was not considered suspicious.

She said: “Around 11.25am on Thursday December 1, 2022, police were called to an address in Priory Crescent, Arbroath, following the death of a 50-year-old man within.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
