A 57-year-old man has died suddenly at a house in Kirriemuir.
Police were called to a property on Hillrise in the town just after 3pm on Sunday.
The body of the man was found inside.
Officers say there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
Locals told of seeing a significant police presence following the death.
One resident said: “I saw the police at the house on Sunday. There were several police cars and a police officer guarding the door.
‘Something tragic has happened’
“I know the family who live there. It seems something tragic has happened.
“My thoughts are with the family at this time.”
Another neighbour said: “Police were guarding the house all day on Sunday.
“I also saw officers wearing white gloves going into the house while police sat outside the house in their car all night on Sunday.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of the sudden death of a 57-year-old man within a property on Hillrise, Kirriemuir, around 3.05pm on Sunday.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
