Dozens enjoyed a bracing start to 2023 in Carnoustie on New Year’s Day.
A piper kicked off festivities, with the dook a fixture on the calendar of the town’s rugby club for more than 25 years.
Many used the challenge to raise money for a variety of charities, including local woman Sarah Thomson.
Donned in a Dundee United strip, Sarah took the ice-cold dunk in tribute to her friend – mum-of-two Marie Kiernan – who died in July aged 49.
Sarah was sponsored to the tune of £700, which will be split between two local groups important to Marie — the 1st Carnoustie Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association and Autism Support Dundee and Angus.
The Courier’s Brian Stormont went along to watch the dook unfold. Check out his pictures below.
