An Angus man has been named locally as the victim of a weekend fatal road accident just a few miles from his home.
Police have yet to formally identify the motorcyclist whose Triumph machine was involved in a collision with a Hyundai Tucson on the B9113 Forfar to Montrose road near Fledmyre quarry around 4.15 on Sunday afternoon, but tributes have been paid to Letham man Jimmy Donald.
Mr Donald, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, a few miles east of Forfar.
Three occupants of the car were taken to Ninewells Hospital and treated for minor injuries before being released.
The incident was attended by Police Scotland, three ambulances, Tayside Trauma team, a Helimed air ambulance and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
The road was closed in both directions for more than six hours as police carried out an investigation into the crash.
His family have not spoken about the tragedy, but online tributes have been paid to Mr Donald.
Police have appealed for witnesses travelling on the road at the time who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the fatal collision.
